Monday, June 11, 2007 – Sir John's medical team may be gearing to present a formal report on his recuperation in the near future. Acting Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King, by way of an update, said Saint Lucia's Prime Minister Honourable Sir John Compton is progressing to a state of improved health. Mr. King who has been privy to frequent meetings with Sir John said the island's leader is in good spirits.

“His condition is stable. I must admit that having had the opportunity this week to meet with him and to speak with him, there are tremendous improvements in his speech, and his whole coordination and so I can conclude that from my own observation, from a lay man's standpoint, that there are significant improvements to his whole rehabilitation process it looks very, very promising.'

Minister King said the public has been very patient and should continue to be supportive at this time. “ One of the things he did indicate there while I was in his presence was to say that we all are mortal and therefore it is expected that we all will fall ill one day or sometimes in our lives.

He has asked for him to be given sometime to rest and recover and for the nation to be with him through this difficult period.”

It was in May this year that Prime Minister Sir. John Compton fell ill and has not been able to resume official duties of the State.
