Friday, June 8, 2007 - Words of congratulations have been extended to
Darren Sammy on being the first Saint Lucian National to represent the West
Indies in the arena of test cricket. Sammie is currently playing in the third
test of the four match series between West Indies and England at Old Trafford in
the UK.
Acting Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King described the lone Saint Lucian
batsman's attainment as a very special milestone which is just reward for years
of hard work and dedication, the many hours of practice, trying to improve both
skills and the discipline. This achievement will serve as an inspiration to
Saint Lucians in general, not only cricketers and the cricket loving public, but
the youth in particular.
Minister King on behalf of himself, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Government and
people of Saint Lucia took the opportunity to extend sincere congratulations and
good wishes. In his own words and I quote .” You have made us all proud.”
