Friday, July 6, 2007 – There is a new opportunity for OECS nationals to study in Guadeloupe.  The Lycée d'Hotellerie et de Tourisme Archipel Guadeloupe is now accepting applications for its two-year program in hospitality and tourism, starting in September 2007.

Based in the popular resort of Le Gosier in the French island of Guadeloupe, the Lycée is a public institution awarding two Brevets de Technicien Supérieur or BTS (Skilled Technician Certification) in the fields of hospitality and tourism production, recognized by all the European Union. The BTS degree is awarded after a two-year program, including classes and practical training from September to June and paid internships in local resorts in July and August.

The French government and the Region of Guadeloupe are offering access to this program for a low fee of 1600 Euro per academic year. The registration fees includes tuition, year-round boarding, and meals on school days.

The program is open for applications from citizens of the OECS member states with an Associate Degree in hospitality or tourism. Applicants with an A-level or Associate Degree with no background in hospitality or tourism may apply, and will go through an additional one-year preparatory course at the same institution before studying for the BTS.

The program being entirely taught in French, applicants must speak French and show an official language certificate issued by Alliance Française or another institution equivalent to DELF B1.

Applications must be sent by August 15th, including the following: résumé, motivation letter in French, copy of A-level or Associate Degree with grades transcript, copy of French proficiency certificate, and birth certificate or a copy of the applicant’s passport.

Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview with the staff of the Lycée in late August.
Applications and queries must be addressed to : Hugo Roebroeck, OECS Education Reform Unit, P.O. Box 179 Castries, at (758) 452-2082 or by email at gofrench@oecs.org.
