Tuesday, July 3, 2007 - The Public Service Commission has officially appointed Mr. Geoffrey Fedee as Director of Information Service (DIS) effective July 1st, 2007.  Mr. Fedee succeeds Mr. Embert Charles who held the post during the former Administration.

Mr. Fedee has a wealth of experience in broadcasting and media having started his career in the early days of Radio Saint Lucia when it operated from government buildings in Castries, in what was then a small cubicle.

He then moved to Radio Antilles in Montserrat in the early 70's and became a popular radio personality throughout the length and breadth of the Caribbean due to the power of Radio Antilles which transmitted on 200,000 watts, when most stations operated on 10,000 watts of power.

From Radio Antilles Mr. Fedee, worked for a short stint as Assistant Manager of Radio Dominica, before returning home to become the Programme and News Director of the first television station in Saint Lucia – the Saint Lucia Television Service Limited located on the same site that Helen Television Services Ltd., now occupies on the Morne.

Mr. Fedee then migrated to England in 1982, before entering the University of Essex where he gained a BA in Government in 1986. He returned to his homeland in 1990 and has since operated a privately owned Real Estate and Car Leasing Business. During that period he has written extensively on political matters in Saint Lucia.

As Director of Information Services, Mr. Fedee intends to effectively utilise both radio and the National Television Network NTN to stimulate discussion and disseminate information so that the general populace can have greater knowledge and understanding of issues that will profoundly affect their lives in the future such as CSME, VAT, and other issues that are essential to the development goals of Saint Lucia.

Mr. Fedee intends to cultivate links with all communication outlets in Saint Lucia including newspapers, television and radio stations. He promises to make the GIS a dynamic arm of the government process providing information on a timely and regular basis.
