Friday, August 31, 2007 – The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new Tuition Program. The program is a government sponsored facility to enable cabinet approved public officers to take advantage of part-time educational programmes offered by the University of the West Indies, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and other accredited institutions.
It will also facilitate courses which will train persons up to professional level in corporate management accounting in the public service, and in addition training programmes which are considered as priority for government, and can be followed either through distance learning mode or part-time through modular programs.
The aim of the program, is to assist in equipping officers with additional skills or knowledge, which will enable an increased level of performance within their present post. Under this tuition refund facility, students are required to seek their own admission to the educational institution and then apply through their respective ministry or departments for sponsorship.
It is to be noted that request will be processed twice a year during the months of March and October. As a result request for courses commencing during the academic year 2007/2008 should reach the ministry of the public service by September 28th 2007 or February 29, 2008. |
