During his visit to Government House, the Russian Ambassador expressed his country's desire to pursue closer co-operation between Russia and Saint Lucia.

“The two governments - the government of the Russian Federation and the government of Saint Lucia - established formal diplomatic relations three years ago. This decision opened an opportunity to develop mutually advantageous co-operation between our two states. I hope and I am confident that by mutual efforts we shall find an opportunity to build and develop strong relationships between our two states,” Mr Zotin said.
Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy formally welcomed the Ambassador to his latest posting.

“I am particularly pleased to welcome you as your country's first Ambassador and to take this opportunity to wish you a fruitful and rewarding tour of duty among us. Your accreditation to us and your presence in the region will facilitate greater discourse between our two countries and set the stage for expanding closer collaboration to our mutual benefit,” she said.

Ambassador Victor Zotin also met Prime Minister Sir John Compton at his official residence on Wednesday, as well as other diplomats posted here. Ambassador Zotin is also scheduled to meet the Minister responsible for External Affairs, International Financial Services, Information and Broadcasting the Honourable Rufus Bousquet and leader of the opposition Dr. Kenny Anthony on Friday, before returning to Jamaica on Sunday.
