Tuesday, September 12, 2006 – The Office of the Prime Minister, in
collaboration with the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD),
will be hosting a two-day retreat aimed at developing an updated Strategy and
Action Plan for Public Sector Modernization at the Sandals Grande Resort on
Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th September, 2006.
The first day of the Retreat will involve presentations by users of the Public
Service on the strengths and weaknesses of the Public Service from the
perspective of the sector that they represent and recommendations for areas in
which the Public Service could be improved to facilitate a better and more
efficient interaction with their respective sectors. Also making presentations
on Day 1 will be the Public Service Commission, Public Officers and
representatives of the Civil Service association and the National Workers Union.
On day 2 of the retreat, the participants will review the experiences and
lessons learned from four major reform exercises conducted to date in the Public
Service and will then prioritise the issues for Public Service Modernization,
with a view to finalising the Strategy and Action Plan by the end of the day.
The Chief Facilitator for the workshop will be Professor Charles Cambridge.
