Government Moves to Improve Public Safety at Large Events |

- Increasingly Saint Lucia is becoming a Mecca for entertainment. Spectaculars
that draw crowds by the hundreds even thousands. Because of the size of the audience that are drawn to such facilities the generic term used is MASS CROWD EVENT. Though there are mechanisms for the Licensing of such events, there is an increasing need to coordinate the Licensing of such Shows, and so the Government of Saint Lucia through the Membership of NEMO presents the Mass Events Guidelines. The team shall be presenting the document to the Public all during the year. In the meantime comments may be sent to the Director NEMO via email slunemo@gmail.com or fax at (758) 453-2152 or post at P O Box 1517, Castries, Since the completion of the Document by the Team in November 2005 the Guidelines have been used for: The RSL Sparrow Gold, Heineken Kalalu World Music Festival, the Hot FM Love Fest, Assou Square, The John Hogan Show for CARE and more and more. At a recent presentation, the Gaiety Entertainment Centre and the Saint Lucia National Trust endorsed the document and promised to work with the Team to implement the Safety Guidelines. Membership of the Mass Events Steering Committee comprised of:

2. Saint Lucia Fire Service 3. Royal Saint Lucia Police Force 4. Sports Saint Lucia Inc. 5. St Jude Hospital 6. St Johns Ambulance Brigade 7. Ministry of Health/Environmental Health Department 8. Tapion Hospital 9. Victoria Hospital 10. Ministry of Works / Electrical Department 11. NEMO Committee on Transportation 12. NEMO Secretariat Since the completion of the Guidelines the Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority has joined the team.
