Parliamentarians Sensitised on HIV/AIDS Implications |
Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - The Ministry of Health, Human Services, Family Affairs and Gender Relations through the National AIDS Program Secretariat is preparing to host a workshop on HIV/AIDS on Friday 27th January, 2006 at the Royal St. Lucian Hotel at Reduit. The workshop is aimed at addressing the need for an informed, proactive and supportive political directorate and to begin a process to keep the country’s political leaders aware of the implications of HIV/AIDS for the future of Saint Lucia. The Prime Minister and Chairman of the National AIDS Coordinating Council NACC Honourable Dr. Kenny Anthony will address the workshop as well as CARICOM Envoy on Health Sir George Alleyne. The National AIDS Programme Secretariat says it is important to have persons at the highest level of decision making on board in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This is the first workshop of its kind in Saint Lucia and the organizers are hoping for open and frank discussions of this very critical developmental issue. |
