Thursday, February 2, 2006 – After much anticipation the line-up for St. Lucia Jazz 2006 was released by the St. Lucia Tourist Board at an official press launch at the Sandals Halcyon Tuesday evening.

The formidable line-up includes Grammy Award winner Seal-known for his chart topper “Kiss From A Rose.” Also included are R and B sensation Ciara, the legendary Al Green, Nancy Wilson and Freddy Cole-as well as Jazz greats Poncho Sanchez and Kenny Garrett.

The line-up also includes performers from Barbadian singing sensation Rihanna, St. Lucia's Sisterhood and making a come back after a rained-out Jazz climax in 2004 is multiple Grammy Award winner and song writer Kenny 'Baby Face' Edmunds.

Chairman of the St. Lucia Tourist Board Costello Michel says the impressive line-up came as a major challenge to Tourist Board Officials who had to make decisions based on the resources available to stage the event.

“We have to understand that although it is important to continue having the best festival in the region, and probably one of the best in the world, we have to do it within the limitation of what a country like ours can afford to spend on one event,” the SLTB Chairman said.

The Tourist Board, Mr. Michel says, took the bold step this year, to make telecommunications provider Cable and Wireless premium gold sponsor for the staging of the event. Representative for Cable and Wireless Sheryl Francis pledged her company's support to St. Lucia Jazz for years to come.

“We are aware of how St. Lucia Jazz contributes to all levels of St. Lucia's economy;for this reason we cannot see ourselves out of jazz. We see it as natural that we want to strengthen and extend our partnership with the Tourist Board to help make St. Lucia Jazz a great success,” Miss Francis said.

Still to be announced is the local line-up as well as headline performers for the opening show at the Mindoo Philip Park on May 5th. St. Lucia Jazz dubbed “The Best Party in the Caribbean” will run from May 5th to the 14th.
