Thursday, August 31, 2006 – The Cul De Sac Day Care Centre Extension and
Grounds Rehabilitation Project will on completion provide an additional 40
places to infants in the community of Cul De Sac and environs bringing the
centre's overall capacity to 80.
Programme Manager of the Basic Needs Trust Fund Clive Hippolyte said improvement
works totalling $25,000.00 is being undertaken on the existing building while
the new extension will cost almost two hundred thousand dollars.
“ In addition to the BNTF funding, there's funding from LUCELEC who has done
drainage works and will also assist with the erection of the fencing. WIZO which
is a commercial entity just outside the centre has also donated some fence
material to be incorporated in the facility, so you have corporate citizens as
well as the BNTF through the Government of Saint Lucia and the CDB expending
funding on that centre.”
As a result of the ongoing project there may be a special arrangement put in
place to accommodate the day care's operations in keeping with the resumption of
school.
“ We're looking to facilitate a partial occupation of the school, however we've
had a meeting with the Ministry of Transformation Day Care Unit as well as
operators of the school and the decision is that they will facilitate the
operation of school at an alternate location until such time.”
The Cul De Sac Day Care Centre Extension and Grounds Rehabilitation Project
should be delivered to the community towards the end of September.
