Wednesday, November 09, 2005 - The Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority (SLSWMA) in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) will on Thursday, November 10, 2005 from 9:00a.m to 4:00 p.m. host a seminar on the Environmentally Sound Management of Used Oil at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities.

Stakeholders drawn from the public and private sectors and non-governmental organizations will gather during the one day seminar to discuss the Waste Oil Management Strategy developed to facilitate and coordinate the environmentally safe management of used oil. The guidelines it is envisaged will mitigate against any potential threat to the health, safety, and environment due to the improper management of used oil. It will also serve to facilitate the recovery of used oil for use as supplementary fuel.
