Friday, January 21 2005 - St. Lucia is expected to feature prominently again, in the 2005 sporting calendar of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Sports co-ordinator, St. Lucian David Peterkin told the GIS that the calendar was expected to be available in the next two weeks. He noted that one of the features would be the re-introduction of another sport to the list of activities.

“Every year we are trying to get one more sport in, because when I got to the desk there were a number of sports that did not have an OECS championship or did have in the past and wasn’t active. The sports desk has been working to try and get each year, at least one, if not two back in the fold. This year, cycling is back into the fold,” said Mr. Peterkin.

Antigua will host the OECS cycling championships on May 15, 2005.
