Wednesday, January 24, 2005 - The Adelaide and Francis Memorial Home for
the Elderly has begun the countdown to its Twentieth Anniversary of dedicated
service to the poor and elderly. Chairman of the Home, Mr. Agustus Justin said
he was driven to establish the home from a deep desire to assist the less
fortunate and needy in the community.
The anniversary will be commemorated with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Basicilica
of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, January 30th. Among the invitees is
Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, along with a host of
other government officials.
Mr. Justin said that for several years he had contributed to the less fortunate
at that institution, but was not satisfied: “My day dream persisted, that only
the founding of a home would do. My intense determination, my prayers brought
this home to fruition”.
“On Sunday we will be having a big mass and we have invited the numbers,
dignitaries including the honourable prime Minister and Mrs. Anthony and we’ll
be having a big mass”, he added.
Mr. Justin pointed out that there was still a lot of room for support and
general improvement in the care administered to the elderly. He is of the view
that young people in particular, need to make time for the elderly, despite
their fast-pace lives.
