Tuesday, December 6, 2005 – A recommendation by the World Bank for all
health officers of the Ministry of Health working in HIV/AIDS on procurement and
procurement planning to become more acquainted with the World Bank Guidelines
and the Government of Saint Lucia Procurement and Stores Regulation for sourcing
foods, services and works will bring those officers together on December 9th,
2005.
The Project Coordination Unit PCU of the Ministry of Finance will meet with the
health officials. The PCU is responsible for procurement, financial management
and disbursement for the World Bank financed Saint Lucia HIV/AIDS Prevention and
Control Project.
The December 9th workshop comes on the heels of the recent visit of a World Bank
supervision mission to Saint Lucia to assess project implementation. Project
Coordinator of the PCU Miss. Corintha Thomas says the workshop will accelerate
the rate of project implementation.
The World Bank has provided grant and loan funding to Saint Lucia to address
HIV/AIDS under a give year project.
