Wednesday, September 29, 2004 – There will be a Plenary Sitting of the
Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court to honour the late Mr. Winston Cenac, QC, who
passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. The Sitting will take place on
Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the High Court, Peynier Street,
Castries.
The cortege of the late Winston Cenac will be viewed at the High Court by the
legal fraternity from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at which time there will be a
procession to Parliament to return the cortege. The lawyers will then make their
way back to the Court House to commence the Sitting at 10:00 a.m.
The Plenary Sitting will commence with a speech by a representative of the Bar
Association, to be followed by other lawyers from the Inner Bar (QCs).
Other lawyers, some from the Office of the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP)
and the Bar Association will also speak. There will be other guest speakers,
such as lawyers from other countries.
His Lordship, the Honourable Acting Chief Justice Adrian Saunders will deliver
the final speech on behalf of the Bench.
The family of the late Winston Cenac will be present at the Sitting, but will
not speak.
