Tuesday, October 12, 2004 - The Cultural Development Foundation and the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports will host the La Marguerite Flower Festival this year, on Friday l5 October and Sunday 17 October, the actual date, to commemorate the feast of the patron Saint of the Flower Festival, Saint Marguerite.


A warm up Marguerite Séance will be held on Saturday 9th October in Dennery, near the pre-school, for interested persons from 8:00pm.


On Friday 15 October from 10:00am at the Euralis Bouty Sports Complex, 17 schools from the Northern belt, comprising Education Districts of 1, 2, 3, and 4 will deliver a presentation of Marguerite songs and dance.


As is customary, the gathering is expected to be addressed by the Honorable Mario Michel, Minister for Education, Human Resource Development, Youth & Sports; Honorable Menissa Rambally, Minister for Social Transformation, Culture and Local Government; and Executive Director of the Cultural Development Foundation, Teddy Francis.


The renditions of the La Marguerite songs will be accompanied by the Eastern Folk Band of Mon Repos. In Soufriere, schools of the Western Community will celebrate Mass at the Lady of the Assumption Church at 8:30am, parade through the town of Soufriere and stage presentations of song and dance at the Soufriere Waterfront.
 

Meanwhile, on Sunday 17 October, five adult La Marguerite groups of Saint Lucia and participating schools of the South will celebrate the Festival with a Service at the Lady of the Purification Roman Catholic Church at10:30am and later, stage performances of song and dance at the Laborie Square.
