OECS Secretariat facilitates plans for Regional Youth dialogue on Sustainable Development |
OECS Environment and Sustainable Development Unit ESDU is facilitating preparations of stakeholders for a Caribbean Youth Dialogue on Sustainable Development.
The process began with a one-day workshop on Tuesday October 19th 2004 at the OECS Secretariat.
The workshop involved various youth development agencies and affiliates, such as the Red Cross Society, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Education, and St. Lucia’s National Commission for the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN).
The Caribbean Youth Dialogue on Sustainable Development will be held in St. Lucia from October 25th to 27th 2004.
UNESCO and the OECS Secretariat are collaborating to organize and support the regional Youth dialogue.
This event will foster a common approach at the regional level that creates awareness among Caribbean youth on the Small Island Developing States Programme of Action, as well as facilitate preparations by Caribbean Youth for a major International Youth convention in Mauritius from January 7th –12th 2005.
The goal of the inter-regional Youth Visioning for Island Living event in Mauritius is to help ensure that young people are fully involved in the review of the Small Island Developing States Programme of Action.
