Wednesday, November 03, 2004 - The Micoud Secondary School is being
lauded as a result of the successful showing of students from that institution,
at the regional leg of the annual “Food and Nutrition Quiz Competition,” which
took place here recently.
Winners of the national quiz competition from the Micoud Secondary School
proceeded to represent the island at the regional face-off, placing second from
a field of 12 countries. Jamaica captured first place overall.
“One of the Saint Lucian students from the Micoud Secondary School, Tina
Mathurin, became the individual winner from a field of 36 competitors; thus
Micoud Secondary School has done the country proud, and deserves to be
congratulated,” said Curriculum Officer for Home Economics in the Ministry
Education, Mrs. Mary King.
Mrs. King said that she was optimistic that Saint Lucian students would have
captured the coveted first place based on the consistently outstanding
performance they gave every year.
The Curriculum Officer also noted that she was satisfied with the manner in
which the competition was conducted, at both the local and regional levels. The
competition was conducted via satellite communications.
