Friday, November 26, 2004 - The Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, winner of the Cultural Development Foundation School’s Drama Competition has benefited from a Digicel sponsorship, through the Cultural Development Foundation, to represent St. Lucia at the Secondary Schools Drama Festival in Trinidad & Tobago.

The main objective of the local drama competition is to encourage the implementation of the new CXC Theatre Arts Syllabus in secondary schools on the island.

Communications Officer with the CDF, Dainea Augier, said Digicel, being the main sponsor of the Cultural Development Foundation, has pledged the sum of EC$100, 000 for the implementation of arts and cultural activities.

“Digicel sponsorship of the CDF extends to providing funding for carnival, for the carnival queen Show, the carnival exhibition, mass on the square, jour ouvre, panorama , the inter commercial house competition, the soca monarch competition, and parade of the bands. Digicel has committed more funding to the Cultural Development Foundation and has agreed to continue sponsorship of cultural activities”, Miss Augier said.

Digicel’s sponsorship of the CCSS students includes the provision of cell phones as a form of communication support during their week-long stay in Trinidad and Tobago.
