Tuesday, March 23, 2004 – Saint Lucia will soon see the introduction of
two new diplomats. On Thursday, March 25th, 2004 Mr. Maarten Van der Gaag,
Ambassador-designate of the kingdom of the Netherlands will present his Letters
of Credence to Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy in a
ceremony at Government House.
Mr. Van der Gaag is presently the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands at Port of Spain, Trinidad and
Tobago, and is also accredited to Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The
Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Christopher and Nevis and St. Vincent and
the Grenadines.
While on the island, the ambassador will pay courtesy calls on the Permanent
Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade and Civil
Aviation, Mr. Cosmos Richardson; Attorney General, Honourable Petrus Compton; as
well as the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Arsene James.
On Thursday, April 1, 2004, it will be the turn of Mr. Om Prakash, High
Commissioner-designate of India to present his Letters of Credence.
Mr. Prakash has served in a number of capacities including Secretary of the
Embassy of India, and Deputy Director General in the Ministry of External
Affairs in New Delhi.
