Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - Two members of the corporate community have come forward to make good on their pledges to the National Community Foundation (NCF) during the National Telethon held last month. The presentations were made today, at the NIC Conference room.

Public Relations Representative for Peter & Company Limited, Dylan Pitcain in making his $5,000 presentation assured Chairman of the NCF, Emma Hippolyte that the company’s presentation symbolized its willingness to enhance the lives of needy persons in the community.

Miss. Hippolyte welcomed Peter & Company as the first business entity to follow up with contributions since the telethon, and she expressed the commitment of the NCF to utilising the funds for the purposes of educational assistance and health care as was indicated by the donor company.

Consolidated Foods Limited donated a substantial cheque of $20,000 to the NCF. Deputy Marketing Director of Consolidated Foods Limited, David Hippolyte, indicated that the newly found conglomerate of Julian’s Supermarket, Big J’s and J.Q Charles Limited, wholeheartedly supported the mission of the NCF and all of its activities.

In providing an update of the current standing of the NCF Fund, Ms. Hippolyte noted that she was heartened by the public’s feedback on the positive impact, which the NCF was having on the lives of students and sick persons, and in alleviating the plight of the poor.

“I believe that it is important that we keep the public abreast as to our pledges during the telethon. You are aware that during the telethon we had pledges of approximately $84,000. So far we have collected $43,000 and we are yet to collect the remaining $41.000. So I want to use this opportunity to remind the public to make good on their pledges at the Bank of St. Lucia or any of the National Insurance Offices in Soufriere Vieux Fort and Castries”.

Tuesday’s $25,000 in contributions takes the total amount of money given to the NCF since the telethon to $69,500.00.
