Thursday, March 04, 2004 - The Ministry of Health, Human Services, Family
Affairs and Gender Relations has, summoned the nation to join the Ministry of
Health, Human Services, Family Affairs and Gender Relations on March 8th,
International Women’s Day, in taking up a challenge issued by the Honourable
Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony in January, when he delivered his New Year’s
address. Lera Pascal, Director of Gender Relations, says the Prime Minister’s
call for persons to pursue a healthier life style is the basis for the theme
‘Healthy women, healthy families, a healthy nation’. The theme forms the
highlight of the programme of activities for Monday’s observance.
A range of products and services promoting good physical health and overall well
being will be showcased at a health fair, at the Castries City Hall on Monday.
Ms. Pascal asserts that the organizers of the fair will aim to inform and
encourage families to adopt a holistic approach to healthy living. Emphasis will
be placed on popular concerns, such as stress relief, dieting and fitness, among
many other health issues. Women in particular are encouraged to visit the health
fair.
The annual Women’s Walk is scheduled for the fourteenth of this month. Pascal
says the Division of Gender Relations is looking forward to the high level of
support demonstrated over the past years.
