Friday, March 19, 2004 - The Ministry of Commerce, Investment and
Consumer Affairs will hold a series of focus groups meetings with stakeholders
from Tuesday March 23rd to Thursday March 25th, 2004 at the Green Parrot Hotel,
two sessions will be held daily.
These sessions form part of the strategic repositioning exercise currently being
carried out by the Ministry, in its effort to analyze its existing operating
systems, and define the appropriate corporate strategy and organization
structure required to deliver the necessary services to the Ministry’s
stakeholders.
These sessions come at a very opportune time, given the changes in the
international trading environment and in particular, the high dependence on
trade for the growth and development of the economy of St. Lucia. The Ministry
envisions itself as a growth enhancing agency, which must function as an
effective delivery mechanism of services to the private sector, to facilitate
economic growth and effectively interface with the public sector.
The focus group sessions will provide a forum to obtain feedback on the
perception of the services provided by the Ministry, with a view to enhancing
these services. The meetings will take the form of small group discussions and
will comprise members of the business and service sector, consumers, government
agencies, statutory boards and the public.
The facilitator for theses sessions will be Mr. Cletus Springer.
