Logos II berthed at Pointe Seraphine |
Friday, June 04, 2004 - The MV Logos II is on the verge of passing the
baton to a sister vessel- the Logos Hope, bringing an end to years of much
anticipated visits to the Ports of Castries and Vieux Fort by the ship deemed to
be the largest floating book fair. Frans Pieter Van Veen Project Manager for the
Logos II says the possibility of obtaining a new ship was proposed a few years
ago.
“We have been struggling with the facilities on the Logos II and for a few years
now, we have been trying to put a project together to replace the Logos II.
Three months ago we purchased a new ship, the Logos Hope so the Logos II will
make its final visit to the St. Lucia and the Caribbean as well.”
However the mandate of the Logos II will be continued by the newer vessel which
will
boast modern facilities including the addition of a new information technology
component to its vast cadre of publications.
“Indeed we will dedicate a special part of the ship to books that are for
persons at university level and many of those books are based on Information
Technology, Psychology and many more academic areas. We got the books at a
special price from one of our main publishers and we will give them away in
exchange for a small contribution,”
The Logos II will be berthed at Pointe Seraphine from June 30th to July 19th,
2004.
