Friday, January 30, 2004 - One day after handing in their 2003 report
at the Annual General Meeting of the National Community Foundation NCF, members
of the Youth at Risk Committee on Tuesday January 27th 2004 attended a workshop
to determine the way forward.
Chairman of the Youth at Risk Committee and NCF board member Webster Joseph says
the committee‘s decision to review its mandate and function, is a means of
improving upon the past year.
“Over the past year we’ve had five projects, four of which were community based;
we had groups from Dennery, Anse La Raye, and Marchand, and they made some
project proposals which we thought benefited young persons during the summer
vacation. They were quite good but we would just like to encourage more of those
projects and maybe initiate projects which have a long lasting effect on members
of the community.”
Clubs who are interested in submitting proposals are informed that sports,
personal and business proposals will not be accepted. The Youth At risk
Committee requires that all groups who present proposals and gain acceptance and
funding follow up with a report on the effectiveness and success of projects.
