Lockesh Singh - Chairman - Trade and Services Exhibition

Lockesh Singh - Chairman - Trade and Services Exhibition

Monday, January 26, 2004 - The Vieux Fort Free Zone is being transformed for a premier trade show of locally produced goods and services. The Trade and Services Exhibition organised by the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce with part funding from the OECS Export Development Unit will bring together buyers and sellers in one area over a four day period starting Wednesday February eleventh to Sunday fifteenth.

The Vieux-Fort Free Zone covers an area of 16.5 acres on the main Vieux Fort highway. The free zone is some 200 meters from the Hewanorra International Airport and a five minute drive from the state of the art deep seaport in the town. The trade and services exhibition is dedicated to the promotion of the export potential of locally produced goods.

Chairman of the exhibition Committee Lockesh Singh says the showcase will expose the value to sub-regional businesses buying from St. Lucia. The exhibition forms part of the 25th anniversary celebration of St. Lucia’s independence. Part of the promotion will be to remind St. Lucians of the kinds of development that has taken place in manufacturing in the over two decades of independence and also to win support for the sustained use of locally produced goods.

The first two days of the exhibition will be open only to buyers while the remaining three days will be extended to the general public.

A packed entertainment calendar will complement the showcase with a list of bands and calypsonians scheduled to perform.
