Monday, February 02, 2004 - The National Television Network NTN is among
several broadcast outfits identified for the showing of a regional television
series dubbed “Women West Indies”. The project which originates from the French
territory of Guadeloupe looks at the contribution of women in developing the
image of the West Indies.
Producers of the series, Shakti Productions and International Creative
Productions ICV brought together representatives from regional broadcast houses,
to hold discussion on the project.
The National Television Network’s representative at the just concluded workshop
Lucius Doxerie says, the need to partner with NTN and other broadcast outlets in
the region is necessary to acquire project funding from InterReg, a funding
institution based in Guadeloupe. In the first instance the project will look at
a production focusing on thirty women, two of whom are St. Lucians. The two
women are publisher Mae Wayne and Director General of the Organisation of
Eastern Caribbean States Dr. Len Ishmael.
The series “Women West Indies” will begin airing sometime in 2005.
