Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - The curtains came down on showcase 25 on
Tuesday, February 24th. The 5-day exhibition highlighted the contribution of the
public sector and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to the country’s process
of development over the past twenty-five years.
Cabinet Secretary and Chairman of the Standing National Independence Anniversary
Committee, Dr. James Fletcher says Showcase 25 was an opportunity for the public
to appraise the products and services provided on the island.
Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony expressed his satisfaction with the standard of
events hosted by the Standing National Independence Anniversary Committee, the
Cultural Development Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and
Agriculture.
The Prime Minister says he was heartened to observe the confidence exuded by
local manufacturers and service providers. “A few days ago we had an excellent
exhibition in Vieux-Fort. A superb exhibition and I saw something at that
exhibition that I hadn’t seen over the past four years. It is summarised in one
word: Confidence. The confidence of the manufacturers and the quality of the
products,” noted Prime Minister Anthony.
He also reminded the nation that the government continued to place emphasis on
Human Resource Development, because a country’s survival depended not only on
the quality of minds but most crucially, on the quality of its people.
