Monday, February 16, 2004 - By the end of March, persons residing in
rural communities are to register a higher level of satisfaction with regard to
the delivery of postal services in their communities.
Assistant Post Master General, Philomen St.Clair says the General Post Office in
Castries recently embarked on a project to improve the postal service in rural
areas. Phase one of the initiative includes the introduction of a door-to-door
service in southern communities, and the installation of community postal boxes
to ensure the prompt delivery of letters and bills.
On February 02nd the General Post Office also introduced a lunch-hour service in
the Parcel Post Section to facilitate Customs Inspections. Customs Parcel
Inspections are also provided at the Vieux Fort and Soufriere post offices.
