Friday, February 20, 2004 – Chief Minister Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith has extended best wishes to St. Lucia on the occasion of that country’s 25th independence anniversary.

In addition, Representative for the Fifth District, the Hon. Delores Christopher will represent the BVI in St. Lucia during a series of celebrations from February 21 to 22, which have been planned to mark the occasion.

St. Lucia became an independent country 25 years ago on February 22. The BVI Government is sending an official representative following an invitation by Prime Minister of St. Lucia Dr. Kenny Anthony.

In response to a letter from Prime Minister Dr. Anthony dated January 23, the Chief Minister said, “Thank you for your invitation to join in the celebration of your country’s 25th independence anniversary. Please accept my Government’s best wishes for your celebrations.”
