Tuesday, December 28, 2004 – As the Christmas season continues to be the favoured time of year for organizations to express their concern for the community by giving back, particularly to underprivileged children, the students of the Anse La Raye Primary School were thrown a Christmas treat by the Saint Lucia/Jamaica Community.

President of the St. Lucia/Jamaica Community, Shelley Black, said it was the fourth annual party that the group had organized for the school: “Four years ago, we were looking for a school to adopt for our annual Christmas treat, and after considering certain factors, such as holding the event in a community, where there is a void for such an activity, we decided to adopt the Anse La Raye Primary School.”

This year 125 children from the environs turned up to enjoy refreshments and receive gifts, which were presented by Parliamentary representative for Anse La Raye /Canaries, Honourable Cyprian Lansiquot. In his short address, he commended the Jamaica/Saint Lucia association for their benevolence.

As part of it objective to assist in the development of young people, the group is currently sponsoring a student of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Vieux Fort Campus B, in meeting educational expenses.

The Saint Lucia/Jamaica Community, also known as Friends of Helen was formed in 1993.
