Tuesday, August 17, 2004 – “Connecting our World through Standards.” This is the theme of a poster competition currently being coordinated by the St. Lucia Bureau of Standards to mark the island’s observance of World Standards Day on October 14, 2004.

The goal of World Standards Day is to raise awareness of the importance of global standardization to the world economy. The poster design competition seeks to develop greater awareness of the importance of standards, quality and measurement to St Lucia and illustrate how these factors link St Lucia to the rest of the world.

Judging of entries will take place in three categories: ages 12 – 16, 17 – 24 and 25 – 35. The winning poster in each category will be highlighted on the cover of the Bureau’s 2004 Standards’ magazine, the 2005 calendar, as well as on other promotional materials.

Competition guidelines, prizes and other information can be obtained from the St Lucia Bureau of Standards Office at Bisee or from the website www.slbs.org.lc.  The deadline for receipt of entries is September 17th, 2004.
