UNESCO and ISIS host regional ICT workshop |
February 20, 2003 - The Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with ISIS World Corporation, this week completed the first in a series of two regional workshops for CXC Information Technology (IT) teachers, and coordinators of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training programs, at the secondary school level. Participants in the Saint Lucia workshop came from the British Virgin Islands, Grenada, St. Vincent and host country Saint Lucia. The key objectives of the workshops are:
The presenters at the workshops include Mr. Abraham Durant – TVET/ICT coordinator at the Ministry of Education in Dominica, Mr. Albert H. Daniels – Executive Director of ISIS World Corporation, Ms. Sophia Jn. Baptiste – coordinator of the ISIS 2 year CXC IT training program and Mr. Ken Bertin a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer from ISIS. Over the past 3 years ISIS has been working closely with UNESCO and the Ministry of Education here, to expand opportunities for secondary school students to be exposed to ICT training before they graduate from secondary school. The second leg of these workshops will be held at the ISIS Computer Technology Centre (ISIS-CTC) in Dominica on March 11th and 12th with the support of UNESCO. Participants at that workshop are expected from Anguilla, Montserrat, St. Kitts/Nevis and host country Dominica.
