Wednesday, June 04, 2003 - The Sustainable Development Unit in the
Ministry of Physical Development, Environment and Housing is this year working
together with sister agencies who are staging educational activities, in
recognition of World Environment Day on Thursday June 5, 2003.
Sustainable Development and Environment Officer, Christopher Corbin said his
department is currently working along with Caribbean Youth Environment Network -
CYEN, an outstanding group of young environmentalists.
“In fact for World Environment Day this year, there’s a lecture series and
exhibition that is being put on by the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute
in collaboration with the Caribbean Youth Environment Network. The lecture
series will be held on June 5, and the exhibition on the June 6. Both activities
are scheduled to take place at the Castries City Hall. The Department of
Environment will use these opportunities to provide public awareness,” Corbin
explained.
The lecture series is open to the general public, but is specifically focussed
on the youth. Several schools and youth organisations have been invited to
participate and observe activities marking the occasion.
