Saint Lucians receive 2003 Independence Day Awards |
Contact: Rose Marie Harris Sunday, February 23, 2003 – Her Excellency the Governor General as Chancellor of the Order of Saint Lucia, on the advice of the Prime Minister has been pleased to make the following appointments to the Order of Saint Lucia in respect of Independence Day 2003. The Saint Lucia Cross (SLC) has been awarded to Marjorie Agatha Brathwaite for distinguished and outstanding national service in the field of education. For long and meritorious contribution in the Public Service, the award was presented to Creswick Winville King while Stephan Philomene received the Saint Lucia Medal of Honour (Gold) (SLMG) for outstanding bravery – death by fire while attempting to save his mother. The Saint Lucia Medal of Merit (Gold) (SLMM) has been awarded to Alvina George for long and meritorious service in the field of Home Economics while the award for long and meritorious service in the field of Education and Arts have been bestowed on Georgiana Marie Headley and Desmond Aloysius respectively. The Saint Lucia Medal of Merit (Silver) (SLMM) has been bestowed on Theresa Emelia Lowrie-Collymore, Ben Cephas Bousquet and Gregory Emmanuel for long ad meritorious service in the Arts. William Grahame Lang, Emmanuel Antonius Theordore and John Moise Calixte for long and meritorious contribution in the Public Service, in the field of Sports and contribution in the Public Service respectively. The Les Pitons Medal (Silver) (SLPM) has been awarded to Helen Josephine Prudent and Madeleine Augustin for long and meritorious contribution in the Public Service while Peter Velinor received the Award for long and meritorious service to Saint Lucia in strengthening community spirit. Joseph Mathurin received the Les Pitons Medal (Bronze) (SLPM) Independence Day Awards for long and meritorious service to Saint Lucia in the field of Fire Fighting while the Award has been bestowed on Ivan Gaspard for long and meritorious Community Service. The National Service Cross has been awarded to Julian Eric Brian Bernard for long and meritorious service in the field of National Security. The National Service Medal has been bestowed on Cyrus Gerard Faulkner and Gregory Emmanuel for long and meritorious service in the field of National Security. The Saint Lucia Public Services Long Service Medals was awarded to: Mrs. Mary Ann Phillips, Saint Lucia Teaching Service, Mrs. Gene Daphne Walters, Saint Lucia Public Service, Augustus Laurencin and Hector Ernest Rock, Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, Anselm Winsbert Edole and Raphael Serieux, Saint Lucia Fire Service and Paul Nicholas Campous, Ports Police. |
