PM Expresses Condolences on Death of Former Election Challenger |
Prime Minister Dr Kenny D. Anthony has expressed his sorrow over the death of Mr Rogance Charles, who passed away in Vieux Fort over the weekend. Mr Charles was an election candidate who contested against Dr Anthony for the Vieux Fort South constituency in the 1997 General Elections, but the two men subsequently became close friends. According to the Prime Minister: “Mr Charles had a deep love for his community and wanted to see it move on.” The PM said that “in many ways Mr Charles saw himself as a pioneer.” According to Dr Anthony: “Mr Charles will be missed in Vieux Fort, for he was a unique and unusual citizen of his community.” “Though he got involved in occasional skirmishes,” the PM continued, “he was a loveable character and meant no harm to anyone.” October 13, 2003 |
