Thursday,
October 09, 2003 - The National Television Network celebrates its second
anniversary on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 under the theme ‘Mirroring Our
Communities’. The network will be having a special broadcast from Soufriere to
commemorate the occasion as well as a marathon of independent local productions.
The broadcast begins at 10:00 a.m. and will highlight the community of Soufriere
which was the birthplace of community television in St. Lucia with the creation
of Soufriere Community Television (SCTV). The broadcast will include a
stimulating mix of features, interviews and portraits of this historic
south-western community.
According to NTN’s management the theme for this year’s anniversary is meant to
highlight the role that public service television should play, especially in
societies like St. Lucia, that are grappling with issues of identity and
nationhood.
The network also plans to increase the number of hours of programming by the end
of the year.
