Monday, March 31, 2003 - Chairperson of the National Community Foundation
(NCF), Emma Hippolyte, has lauded the tremendous effort of the Saint Lucian
public in making the much publicised National Community Foundation Telethon,
held on the weekend a success.
According to the Ms. Hippolyte, the entertainers must be singled out for
contributing significantly in making the day’s event successful and interesting.
Hippolyte also stated how gratified she was for the level of volunteerism
exhibited by many, and the team effort showcased in an activity of such
necessity. Despite the high level of participation, Hippolyte says she was not
too satisfied with the number of pledges but is optimistic nonetheless that
there will be more in the days ahead.
“I believe as well what we achieved in terms of public relations, we are very
happy with that in terms of bringing our work to the public, I think that was
good. In terms of getting the beneficiaries to share with the public, their
thoughts as to how we have helped them, I think that was extremely important and
I need to thank the persons who actually came out and supported us” Hippolyte
said.
The NCF Telethon which went well into late Sunday night was able to amass over
$112,000 at the end of the activity.
