Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - The lands of the La Clery Housing Estate and
the adjacent ravine have been declared a Special Enforcement Area pursuant to
Section twenty four A of the Land Development Interim Control Act of 1971 as
amended by Act Number eleven of 1990.

This is yet another Cabinet decision taken on Monday. Speaking with the local
media Tuesday Cabinet Secretary Dr. James Fletcher explained that the lands have
been earmarked for redevelopment by the Physical Development, Environment and
Housing.

“That will follow the demolition of the existing buildings of the La Clery
Housing Estate and that really is to give effect to a pronouncement made by the
Honourable Prime Minister in his 2003 budget statement.”
