Monday, December 01, 2003 - The Annual Chief Fire Officer’s Parade, will
grace the village of Micoud this year. The spectacular event put on by the St.
Lucia Fire and Emergency Services is carried out primarily to highlight the
achievements of the service over the past year.
Chief Fire Officer Augustine Gaspard says, the event scheduled for Friday
December 5, at 9:00 am, is being decentralized to afford the various branches in
the towns and villages island wide, to be fully involved. According to Mr.
Gaspard, during that event a number of fire officers will be honoured for their
outstanding contributions to the service.
“In the Fire Service we have had different persons receiving awards and this
year is no exception. We will also be looking at the fire person whom we believe
has performed creditably or the best, and award that person the trophy and other
prizes. We will also be commending other fire personnel who have done well for
the year. It’s a kind of motivation for those persons who have worked well,”
Augustine said.
The fire service, he noted, is not without its own challenges, and so it is
always good to ensure that fire personnel are encouraged to continue to work
hard.
The St. Lucia Fire and Emergency Services will observe its 30th Anniversary in
2004.
