St. Lucia National Trust Launches 'Year of the Member' |
Contact: John Emmanuel Monday, June 03, 2002 - The St. Lucia National Trust is undertaking yet another initiative in its campaign to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the island. This week it launched ‘The Year of the Member’ which is an attempt to revitalise and increase the membership of the Trust. Governor General and Patron of the Trust, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy announced some special offers that are meant to entice St. Lucians to join the Trust. “As an incentive we are offering a discount on membership fees to bring back to the fold those members who have lapsed and to bring in those of you who have always planned to become members of the Trust but have not gotten around to doing so. I am therefore pleased to announce a 50% discount on all membership categories that is individual, family, student and corporate membership until the end of June 2002.” The St. Lucia Natural Trust, she noted, had set up an active and dedicated committee under the leadership of Miss Lera Pascal to drum up support for the Trust and its work. The committee has since set about revising the Trust’s membership database and has put in place a new membership management system. “This system will provide for the division of St. Lucia into 13 membership regions with a community agent in each region. The role of these agents will be to communicate with members in their region, form a management group, mobilize members, collect membership fees and help in keeping up the level of interest of their members. The community agents will work alongside other members in their community to be the eyes and ears of the St. Lucia National Trust,” said Dame Pearlette. The Year of the Member runs from June 1 of this year to May 31 of 2003. |
