Saint Lucian Economy on the Recovery

Tuesday, July 30, 2002 - The island’s economy is showing signs of recovery. Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Kenny Anthony is reporting that for the first three months of this quarter, there has been marked increases in a number of sectors.

“There is identifiable increase in our stay over arrivals in tourism. We have in fact surpassed the numbers for last year. Banana production is now up by thirty nine percent after the devastating drought last year. Our farmers are holding their own and quite apart from that has been the massive inflow of funds as a result of public sector investment by this government.”

Dr. Anthony made those comments while addressing the Saint Lucia House of Assembly on Tuesday July 30, 2002.
