Thursday, April 04, 2002 – On behalf of the government and people of Saint Lucia, the Minister for External Affairs, International Trade and Civil Aviation Honourable Julian Hunte has extended condolences to the government and people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother.

According to Minister Hunte, the late Queen Elizabeth will be remembered for her kindness, friendliness and charm. The Queen Mother’s devotion and service to the institution of the monarchy in general and the British people in particular was evident in her tireless dedication to public life, a role she wholeheartedly embraced, despite ailing health. As a mother and grandmother Queen Elizabeth exuded great warmth and was a model of strength to the British nation in moments of crisis.

“It is my fervent hope that the family of Queen Elizabeth find comfort and strength in the knowledge that she lived a life dedicated to the service of the Crown and was an inspiration to whose who knew her,” Minister Hunte ended.

The Queen Mother passed away on Saturday March 30, 2002.
