New Programme on NTN |
Contact: Director of Information Services Wednesday, 08 May 2002 - The Government Information Service (GIS) will commence a new weekly live programme on Thursday May 16th 2002. “Douvan Pep la is a ninety minute interactive programme to be broadcast on the National Television Network (NTN), and will focus on enhancing the quality of governance and public service in St. Lucia. The first seventeen episodes will feature the members of parliament who will address issues related to representation and people participation in government. Each programme will feature a thirty minute interview segment with the moderator, followed by questions from a studio audience as well as from the public through the telephone. The programme will be broadcast every Thursday from 8.00 p.m. on NTN, Cablevision channel two. The first guest of the programme will be the parliamentary representative for Castries east, Hon. Phillip J. Pierre. It is envisaged that following the series with the members of parliament, the programme will present to the public leaders and executives of various national public sector organisations to address issues related to the nature and quality of public service. Douvan Pep la, originally scheduled for broadcast late last year was postponed due to the general elections of 2001 and subsequently the presentation of the 2002 – 2003 budget. |
