New Airlift from Chicago for St. Lucia |
Contact: Rose Marie Harris Monday, July 01, 2002 - The Saint Lucia Tourist Board and Apple Vacations have forged closer collaboration. Through a new partnership Saint Lucia stands to benefit from increased air services out of Chicago Currently Apple Vacations’ air service is shared with Antigua but come December 2002, Saint Lucia will benefit from two weekly non-stop charters from the US mid-west region. Deputy Director of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board Maria Fowell says this is exciting news for Saint Lucia as the island previously had no air service from that market. According to the Deputy Director this new service will further boost the island’s tourism sector. “The Chicago charter will be coming on Sundays and that will be a dedicated service to Saint Lucia so there will be no stopping in Antigua. Secondly there is a service that will run from Milwaukee to Detroit, Detroit - Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia - Detroit on a Monday. So it’s extremely good news. We have a lot of interest in the mid-west area. Since we put dedicated reps in Chicago, we’ve been able to do a lot more work in the entire mid-west region,” Fowell added. |
