Journalism Training Workshop |
Contact: Embert Charles Thursday November 21, 2002 – Award-winning Barbadian journalist David Ellis will facilitate the second national journalism training workshop scheduled to start here tomorrow. The two-day workshop will be held at the Bay Gardens hotel and will focus on writing and presentation of news for broadcast. Among the issues to be addressed are the legal constraints to investigative reporting in the Caribbean. Mr. Ellis is a former president of the Barbados Association of Journalists. He has worked throughout the Caribbean for the past two decades with stints at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (Barbados) and Radio Antilles, before his current position as director of news and Public Affairs at Starcom Radio in Barbados. He is also a regular talk show host and has produced several documentaries of current affairs issues in the Caribbean. The workshop is being organised by the Department of Information Services with support from the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO. It is one component of a month loge training programme aimed at improving the quality and quantity of output in the local media. |
