Emergency Recovery Programme Tops Agenda at House of Assembly Meeting |
Monday, April 08, 2002 - Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, International Financial Services, Economic Affairs and Information Honourable Dr. Kenny Anthony will present several motions to the St. Lucia House of Assembly when it meets on Tuesday, April 9, 2002. At Tuesday’s sitting, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m, Dr. Anthony will seek authorization from the House of Assembly to borrow by means of credit, three million, six hundred thousand dollars (EC$3.6m) from the International Development Association, for the purpose of financing the Emergency Recovery Programme. An additional one million, eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars (EC$1.89m) will come from the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development to help finance the Recovery Programme. Prime Minister Anthony will also seek authorisation from the House of Assembly to borrow three hundred and ninety-five thousand US dollars (US$395,000) from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) for the purpose of financing the Regional Tourism Emergency Programme. The House will also consider the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Bill, together with several statutory instruments that will be laid by Minister for Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities Honourable Felix Finisterre. |
