Water Policy for the Caribbean Coming Soon |
Thursday, November 22, 2001 - Regional water resource managers are to discuss the formulation of a Water Policy for the Caribbean when they assemble in St. Lucia on December 10 & 11, 2001. The exercise is the result of continuing work being undertaken by national agencies and the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute (CEHI) on managing increasingly scarce water resources in the region. The event is being organized by CEHI in association with the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities, the Water Resources Management Unit and the Water and Sewerage Commission. The workshop will seek to provide an exchange of experience among water users and managers from across the region and to inform the development of key water policies for individual territories. In drafting the Water Policy participants will also consider the final design of a regional watershed and coastal area management project to be funded by the Global Environment Facility. |
