The Ministry of Tourism, on Monday, hosted another training seminar for taxi
drivers as it continues efforts at ensuring that Saint Lucia remains a choice
tourism destination. Speaking
during a Taxi Pride Training Seminar, Monday, Minister for Tourism and Civil
Aviation, Honourable Menissa Rambally explained that the dynamics of the
industry have placed Saint Lucia in a position where the island must compete and
compete fiercely with relatively new destinations offering much more, on the
surface, than Saint Lucia could ever hope to offer.
“Against that backdrop, the convening of this training workshop is
timely and opportune, for it provides us an opportunity once again to evaluate
the quality of services and value for money we offer visitors to our country,”
the minister said. Minister Rambally reminded the taxi owners and drivers that they are the first non-uniformed persons a visitor to Saint Lucia meets and interacts with. She told them that Saint Lucia has a unique, prized product that is in demand. “The challenge for us all is to recognise the “jewel in the crown” that we possess and promote it at every turn,” the minister said. |
